May the Lord Bless you

This verse is one I have been chewing on this week. It's one that is often used in benedictions or on cards or cross-stitched on pillows, but I know there is so much more than fluff here.

Below are some different translations I looked up to get a better sense of the incredible power behind these words....

Numbers 6:24-26 The Message (MSG)

24 God bless you and keep you,
25 God smile on you and gift you,
26 God look you full in the face
    and make you prosper.
Numbers 6:24-26 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).

Numbers 6:24-26 New Living Translation (NLT)

24 ‘May the Lord bless you
    and protect you.
25 May the Lord smile on you
    and be gracious to you.
26 May the Lord show you his favor
    and give you his peace.’

Numbers 6:24-26 Amplified Bible (AMP)

24 The Lord bless you, and keep you [protect you, sustain you, and guard you];
25 The Lord make His face shine upon you [with favor],
And be gracious to you [surrounding you with lovingkindness];
26 The Lord lift up His countenance (face) upon you [with divine approval],
And give you peace [a tranquil heart and life].’

May God bless you with all the beauty and strength and power behind these words...
